Anne Landsman

Anne Landsman ( born April 14, 1959 in Worcester, South Africa) is a South African writer.

Anne Landsman grew up as the daughter of a Jewish doctor on in South Africa. She studied English and graduated in 1981 with her ​​bachelor's degree at the University of Cape Town, a master's degree in the fields of scriptwriting and directing them made ​​in 1984 at Columbia University in New York. She taught until 2001 at the New School for Social Research and authored by the way screenplays and short stories. Her mentor was the director Frank Daniel.

From one of her short stories, she developed her first novel, The Devil's Chimney, which reached the shortlist of several literary prizes right away. Her second novel, The Rowing Lesson is autobiographical and tells the story of a Jewish South African woman. She won the 2009 Alan Paton thus Fiction Award and the M -Net Literary Award. She also writes essays and reviews and is represented with her ​​short stories in several anthologies.
