Anne of Green Gables (anime)

Anne of Green Gables (Japanese Original Title:赤毛のアン, Akage no Q; literally redhead Ann ) was produced by Nippon Animation and Fuji Television. The television series ran in Japan from January 7 to December 30, 1979 on Fuji TV.

The first episodes were later also to a theatrical version ( gekijōban ) under the title Akage no Ann - Green Gables e no Michi (赤毛のアン~グリーン ゲーブル ズ へ の 道~ English subtitle, Anne of Green Gables - The Movie ) edited together. This was released by Pony Canyon in 1992 and 1998 on VHS and laserdisc in 1994.

Background

Anne of Green Gables is an anime classic from the WMT series, a number of anime series after Roman originals. The series is based on the first volume of Anne of Green Gables novels of Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery published in 1908.

Anne of Green Gables adheres very closely to the literary model. The series is very popular since they air in 1979 with Japanese girls and women who are the real Green Gables on Prince Edward Iceland visit in droves in Canada.

Director of the series, along with other Isao Takahata, who since 1985, the Studio Ghibli with Hayao Miyazaki directs. The latter has been involved in the layout of the episodes 1-15 before he got out of the series and the production company Nippon left animation. Character designer of the series is Yoshifumi Kondo, whose character design and illustration of the conversion of the young Anne for adults from critics was much praised.

The German title song, composed by Alexander Blechingerová is sung by Joy Fleming. The Japanese Openings and Endings are Kikoeru kashira and Samenai Yume, they are sung by Ritsuko Owada.

From April 5 to December 27, 2009 ran in Japan on BS Fuji the prequel and the 26th WMT series Konnichi wa Ann - Before Green Gables (こんにちは アン~ Before Green Gables ). Its plot is based on Anne of Green Gables - How it all began by Budge Wilson.
