Anne V. Coates

Anne V. Coates ( born December 12, 1925 in Reigate, Surrey, United Kingdom) is a British film editor.

Life and work

Prior to her career in the film business, she worked as a nurse. Your first job as an editor she lays before 1952. In 1962 she was awarded the Oscar for Best Editor at Lawrence of Arabia. In their further career, she received four more Academy Award nominations. For the film The Medusa she received in 1978 the only producer credit her career. In 1995, she was honored by the American Cinema Editors with the Career Achievement Award.

Coates was married to the director Douglas Hickox. Together they have three children, this is probably the best known son of Anthony Hickox, who has worked as a director. The daughter of Emma E. Hickox is active as an editor, son of James DR Hickox as a director.

In 2003 she was appointed an Officer of the British Empire. In 2007 she received the Honorary Award of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts ( BAFTA ).
