Anneli Ute Gabanyi

Anneli Ute Gabanyi ( born October 18, 1942 in Bucharest, Romania ) is a German political scientist, philologist and journalist.

Life

Anneli Ute Gabanyi comes from a Transylvanian Saxon family from Sibiu ( German Hermannstadt), where she also attended the primary school and secondary school. She studied English and Romance Languages ​​at the Babeş -Bolyai University in Cluj- Napoca ( Cluj German ). From 1965 to 1966 Gabanyi studied comparative literature at the University of Auvergne, Clermont -Ferrand and 1979-1980 Political Science at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. At the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg, she became a Doctor of Philosophy.

After her departure from Romania Gabanyi settled in Munich, where she from 1969 to 1984 as a research assistant at the Research Institute of Radio Free Europe, then from 1984 to 1987 was head of the local Romanian department first. From 1988 to 2000 she worked as a research consultant for Romania at Munich East Institute.

Since 2001, Anneli Ute Gabanyi lives in Berlin. Here she was from 2001 to 2007 first as a research fellow of the Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP ), then worked as political scientist since 2008. Her research focuses on the recent history of the Republic of Moldova, political and economic transformation of its foreign and security policy, as well as issues of neighborhood and Black Sea policy of the European Union.
