Annemarie Huber-Hotz

Annemarie Huber- Hotz ( born August 16, 1948 in Baar, Canton train ) is a Swiss official. From 2000 to 2007 she was chancellor and the first woman in this office. She is a member of the party FDP.Die liberals.

Biography

Huber- Hotz attended primary and secondary school in Baar, then she attended the district school in train. She studied sociology, anthropology and political science at the Universities of Bern, Uppsala (Sweden) and Geneva. At ETH Zurich, she completed 1976/77 a Nachdiplomlehrgang in spatial planning. During her studies, she worked part-time as a translator at the International Labour Organization in Geneva and was a staff member in the Office of Spatial Planning of the Canton train.

In 1978, Huber- Hotz in the federal administration and initially worked in the Secretariat of the Federal Assembly. In 1981 she led the Secretariat of the Council of States, in addition, she led from 1989 to scientific Parliament service. In 1992, she rose to become Secretary General of the Federal Assembly. After Chancellor François Couchepin had announced his resignation, the Federal Assembly on 15 December 1999 certain its successor. Huber- Hotz sat down in the fourth round against Vice Chancellor Achille Casanova ( CVP) by and was the first woman to head the Federal Chancellery.

Huber- Hotz took up her post at the beginning of 2000. They reorganized the Federal Chancellery and divided them into four management areas (Federal Council, Planning / Strategy, Information / Communication and Internal Services ). Under her leadership, the e-government were established and created the legal basis for e-voting. In February 2007, they announced on their waiver of a third term and resigned at the end of the year. As Chancellor she was ex -officio of the Executive of the FDP and the Executive Board at the Federal Palace Group.

In June 2007, Huber- Hotz took over as chairman of the Swiss Public Welfare Society, since January 2008, is chairman of the Swiss Mountain Aid Council, since April 2008 the President ISLAND Foundation and in July 2008 President of the Swiss Banking Ombudsman Foundation. She is married and has three children. Besides German she speaks English, French and Swedish.

Since 2011, Annemarie Huber- Hotz is President of the Swiss Red Cross.
