Annemarie Roelofs

Annemarie Roelofs (* 1955 in Amstelveen ) is a Dutch trombonist and violinist. She is professor of ensemble at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main.

Life and work

Roelofs studied trombone and violin at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she also played with Henry Cow and Guus Janssen. You early on in theater music focused (1979 Deutsches Theater Berlin, since 1984 cabaret with Cornelia Niemann and partly also with Anne Bärenz, 1990-2005 sofa trilogy for Klappmaul theater). She also made ​​numerous experiences in jazz, free jazz, funk and salsa area in clubs in Holland and England. At the same time she worked in the Feminist Improvising Group and in projects with Lindsay Cooper. Together with Heiner Goebbels, Alfred Harth, Christoph Anders, Paul Lovens and Rolf Riehm she played in 1980 the music for the LP "There is a eagle owl in the country" and was on the soundtracks to Helke Sander's classic films The ever Reduced Personality - Outtakes and Subjective factor ( 1981) involved, after which she moved into a second residence in Frankfurt / Main.

In addition to solo performances Roelofs has organized several bands: The Waste Watchers, with John Chandler and Dirk Marwedel, the Triple A trumpet trio with Annie Whitehead and Abbie Conant. She also plays in a duo with pianist Elvira plenary and Karl Berger. Occasionally she also plays in the United Women's Orchestra and in groups, the Dutch violinist Ig Henneman.
