Annemie Fontana

Annemie Fontana ( born December 14, 1925 in Versoix, Canton of Geneva, † 25 October 2002 Zurich ), actually Jacqueline Anne Marie Fontana, was a Swiss artist and sculptor. It was discovered and promoted by Alois Carigiet.

Life

Birth

She was born as the daughter of the painter Alois Fontana. Shortly after her birth in Versoix they came to Zurich.

Education and professional career

From 1941 to 1944 Annemie Fontana graduated reluctantly a seamstress teaching in haute couture atelier by Gaby Jouval. This training should enable her to a secure income. Immediately afterwards they enjoyed from 1944 to 1950 trained as a ceramist at the company Gebrüder Müller in Lucerne. She worked then for two years for an architect as Modellbauerin.

Artistic career

After the training in 1950 moved Annemie Fontana her first studio in the " Old Mill " at the Mühlebachstrasse and trained there until 1955, self-taught sculpture on. " Water organ "

1963 Annemie Fontana won the first prize in an art - in-architecture competition and was awarded the contract for the realization of a fountain at the schoolhouse Montalin in Chur. This was the first completed project of the artist's public work.

Built in 1964, " water organ " is a fountain sculpture in the center of the school building space. The sculpture consists of two vertical and varies slightly bent brass tube bundle. Sculpture in the Döltschihalde

The first public work in Zurich, dated 1969, is in the superstructure Döltschihalde ( house numbers 20-26 ). Sirius is a fountain of Annemie Fontana. He is one of the best known works of the artist. The fountain was formerly on the Escher -Wyss-Platz in Zurich and was designed by her for this place. On 18 March 2009 the fountain sculpture was dismantled. In October and November 2012, he was re-erected in front of the indoor stadium.

« Seat shell »

Annemie Fontana developed a walk-in " seat shell " made ​​of polyester for the Mythenquai in Zurich. For the bathhouse Juch in their home community Zumikon designed Annemie Fontana between 1972-1974 more blue and cyan " seat wave ". Fontana Gränacher Foundation

Annemie Fontana laid down in his will that after her death a foundation for eligible artists will be set up.
