Annetto Depasquale

Annetto Depasquale ( born June 28, 1938 in Qormi, † 29 November 2011) was a Maltese Roman Catholic priest and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Malta.

Life

Annetto Depasquale studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the University of Malta as well as canon law and pastoral theology at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, where he received his doctorate in 1968. On April 17, 1962 Depasquale was ordained a priest. He was active in the Commission for the children's homes, the pastoral services, and in pastoral care in the parish of St George in Qormi and for the English-speaking population in Malta. He was for many years a professor of canon law at the Theological Faculty of Law and the University of Malta. On 6 August 1977 he became Chancellor and on April 14, 1986 Pastoral Secretary of the Archdiocese of Malta, from January 9, 1989 the Vicar General.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 16 November 1998 as Titular Bishop of Aradi and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Malta. He received his episcopal consecration on January 2, 1999, the Archbishop of Malta, Joseph Mercieca; Co-consecrators were Nikol Cauchi Joseph, Bishop of Gozo, and Archbishop Luigi Gatti, Apostolic Nuncio to Malta and Libya. He was a member of the Maltese Episcopal Conference.
