Annibale Padovano

Annibale Padovano (* 1527 in Padua, † March 15, 1575 in Graz ) was an Italian organist and composer.

Life

He was the first organist from 1552 to 1565 at St. Mark's Basilica in Venice. Padovano was involved in the introduction of mutual music-making of the two stationed on opposite galleries organs and choirs, resulting in Adrian Willaert should develop the Venetian polychorality involved. He then worked as an organist at the court of Archduke Charles in Graz. Here he organized the new court music and followed from 1570 Johannes de Cleve ( 1528/29-1582 ) as Kapellmeister after. The composer published several Toccatas and ricercare for Organ and Orchestra, as well as numerous church music and madrigals.
