Annie Martin

Annie Martin ( born September 7, 1981 in Lachine ) is a Canadian beach volleyball player.

Career

Martin played her first international tournament in 2002 with Guylaine Dumont. In 2003, the Canadians at the Fifth Lianyungang Open. At the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, they won their preliminary round group and the first knockout game against their compatriots Boileau / Morin, before the U.S. women McPeak / Youngs defeated in the second round. In the Olympic tournament in 2004 she was second in the group behind McPeak / Youngs and reached with a win against the Cubans Larrea Peraza / Fernandez Grasset the quarter-finals where they were beaten in the U.S. later gold medalists Kerri Walsh and Misty May- Treanor. After the tournament, they parted ways.

In 2005, she was forced to retire early from the World Cup in Berlin with Marie -Christine Pruneau after two defeats. The next year, she succeeded with Katherine Zakrzewski a tournament victory in Eboli. In 2007, she formed a new duo with Dana Cooke. At the World Championships in Gstaad Martin / Cooke lost as runners-up in the first round against the Brazilians Maria Clara / Carol. They were then Ninth Kristiansand Open.

In Guarujá Martin had her first appearance in 2008 with their last partner Marie - Andrée Lessard. Martin / Lessard finished fifth in Dubai and Ninth in Sanya. In the 2009 World Cup as they came third group in the knockout stage and failed in three sets in the U.S. duo Turner / Akers. 2009 and 2010, they still get several ninth places. 2011 reached Lessard / Martin among others the 13th rank in Mysłowice.
