Anning, Yunnan

The city of Anning (安宁 市; Pinyin: Anning Shì ) is a municipality of the prefecture-level city of Kunming, capital of Yunnan province. It has an area of 1,313 km ² and has about 260,000 inhabitants ( 2002).

Anning is well known for its hot springs. These have been around for the Eastern Han dynasty known ( 1st to 3rd century ). Since the early 15th century, they are used therapeutically. The water of the sources is about 45 degrees Celsius, and contains, inter alia calcium, magnesium and sodium.
