Anras

Anras is a municipality with 1292 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Lienz in Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Lienz.

The municipality is located in East Tyrol part of the Pusteria Valley, which is drained by the river Drava. The territory extends over both sides of the valley, but the colonization extends mainly north of the Drava. The main town with some hamlets located on the Pusteria High Road, but there are still settlements on the valley floor.

The district of Mittenwald an der Drau has a stop on the Drau Valley Railway.

Geography

Location

Located in the middle Pusteria municipality of Anras ranges from the mountains of Defereggengebirges to the foothills of the Lienz Dolomites and the Erlbach (border against Abfaltersbach ) to Krist One of Bach ( border against Assling ). The settlements are mainly located on the sunny side high terrace and the valley floor (zi country ), only a yard ( Lechen ) is located on the shady side on the river Drava. Farms in extreme situation is contained in Kobreil (1510 m) and Raut. Three Katastralgemeinden, Asch - Winkl, Anras and Ried, form the municipality.

The clustered villages Asch and Anras had originally Romanesque character, the village Asch was rebuilt after the great fire in 1894 almost entirely.

Since the Second World War, a rich construction that began in Anras. At the time when Anras still the breadbasket of the Pusteria Valley was, remember some granaries, the Getreideharpfen have disappeared entirely, the Bach mills were demolished, Brechelgruben can also be found any more.

Waters

Erlbach, Margaret Bach and Krist One of Bach with their tributaries drain the sunny side, while leading from the southern mountains of Badbach, the Jochbach and Griesbach their water to the river Drava. Settled yet in the pastures of the area are Ash Lake, the lake and the Anraser Sichelsee.

Mountains

Culture and sights

Personalities

  • Toni Kollreider, 1904-1980, from Asch attended the School of Applied Arts in Innsbruck and spent a very modest artist's life as a wood sculptor in Anras. Above all, his slightly abstract cribs are widely disseminated.
