Anse-Bertrand

Anse -Bertrand is a municipality with 4910 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Guadeloupe on the island of Grande- Terre, Guadeloupe. The inhabitants are called Ansois.

History

Formerly called the Commune Anse de Saint Bertrand. In 1730, only 76 Caribs lived in the area. In 1825 there were only 7 Gradually they gave the land to the settlers. 1790 were counted 24 wind mills and 21 sugar factories.
