Anselme Gaëtan Desmarest
Anselme Gaëtan Desmarest ( born March 6, 1784 in Paris, † June 4, 1838 in Maisons -Alfort ) was a French zoologist and writer. He was the son of the famous geologist Nicolas Desmarest (1725-1815) and studied zoology at the National Veterinary school Maisons- Alfort. While working as a zoologist he described many animal species, including the bat-eared fox, the red kangaroo and the thick -tailed opossum.
