Ansgarde of Burgundy

Ansgard of Burgundy ( * 826, † 880 ) was the first wife of the West Frankish king Ludwig II

She was born as the daughter of Hardouin of Burgundy. At the age of 36, she married secretly the 862 only 16 years later the West Frankish king Ludwig II The marriage took place against the will of Ludwig's father, Emperor Charles II, who wanted to marry his son to Adelaide of Friuli.

Emperor Charles had the marriage annulled by the pope and his son in February 878, Ludwig married to Adelaide of Friuli. Louis had at that time from his first marriage had five children.
