Anson Brown

Anson Brown ( * 1800 in Charlton, New York, † June 14, 1840 in Ballston Spa, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. He represented in the years 1839 and 1840, the New York State in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Anson Brown attended public schools and graduated in 1819 from Union College in Schenectady. He studied law. After receiving his license to practice law, he began to practice in Ballston Spa. He was one of the first directors of the Ballston Spa State Bank (now Ballston Spa National Bank), which was founded in 1830. Politically he belonged to the Whig party. In the congressional elections of 1838, for the 26th Congress, he was the eleventh electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John I. De Graff on March 4, 1839. He died before his term ends on June 14, 1840 in Ballston Spa and was then buried in the cemetery of the Ballston Spa Cemetery Association.
