Ansonica

The white grape Ansonica is a Sicilian variety with a nutty flavor that is generally under the name Insolia ( Sicilian: Inzolia ) there operates. To the west of Sicily it is used in addition to the varieties Catarratto Bianco comune and Catarratto Bianco lucido as an ingredient in dry white wines and the Marsala. She gives the wine a more intense flavor. The variety produces straw yellow, pale colored wines, which are also used as basic material for the preparation of vermouth.

Under the name Ansonica it is also grown in Tuscany and the island of Elba.

In Sicily, the species is also used as a table grape. Since the grapes but not survive the transport, without taking damage, this use is restricted to local consumption. Ansonica is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ).

The area under vines in Italy is approximately 12,700 hectares. Small stocks are used in Tunisia for the production of raisins.
