AN/SPG-51
The AN/SPG-51 is a ship -based fire control radar, which was produced by the U.S. company Raytheon.
Description
The SPG -51 is used for steering RIM -66 SM-1 and RIM -24 Tartar anti-aircraft missiles. It has been produced since 1952 by Raytheon. It operates in the frequency range 4-6 GHz and 8-10 GHz at a constant power of 22.5 kW. There are known the following variants:
- AN/SPG-51A: first production model
- AN/SPG-51B: A substantially revised version
- AN/SPG-51C: Has a fully automatic target tracking and enhanced ECCM capabilities
- AN/SPG-51D: In this variant, the Doppler effect can be evaluated in order to better target tracking
- AN/SPG-51E: This is a universal system that can control the naval guns and RIM -8 Talos missiles
