AN/SPG-53

The AN/SPG-53 is a ship -based fire control radar, which was produced by the U.S. company Western Electric.

Description

The SPG -53 is responsible for the control of the Mark 42 general purpose gun. It was designed by the U.S. company AT & T after the company took over Western Electric manufactured. The system is used in connection with the Mark 68 and the fire control system operates in the frequency range of 8.5 to 10 GHz, at a constant power of 35 kW. From the SPG -53E version, it is also possible to recognize projectile impacts on the water and adjust the fire control accordingly. Furthermore, the system can also be used to simulate enemy EloGM activities.
