The AN/SPG-55 is a ship -based fire control radar, which was produced by the U.S. company Sperry Corporation.
Description
The SPG -55 is used to control RIM -2 Terrier anti-aircraft missiles. It was produced by U.S. companies Sperry Corporation and the Radio Corporation of America, both companies today are each associated with Unisys and Thomson / Bertelsmann. The system operates in the frequency range from 5.4 to 5.9 GHz and can if necessary be used as an improvised search radar. The following variants are known:
- AN/SPG-55: The basic model.
- AN/SPG-55A: This version can also control semi-active guided missiles.
- AN/SPG-55B: variant of controlling the Standard Missile and Standard Missile 1 2 Furthermore, the radiated power is significantly increased and expanded the ECCM capabilities. To complicate enemy jamming, the radar operates simultaneously on two frequencies, so hostile jamming systems must split their performance on both channels.
