Antal Ligeti

Antal Ligeti ( born January 10, 1823 in Nagykároly; † January 5, 1890 in Budapest) was a Hungarian landscape painter.

Life

Ligeti was at first a merchant, but went in 1845 to his training as an artist to Italy, where he joined the landscape painter Károly Markó in Florence, and returned back in 1848.

At the expense of Count Stephan Karolyi Ligeti in 1855 undertook a multi-year study trip to Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Damascus, Cyprus, Rhodes, Greek Islands, Malta, Sicily.

He settled in 1861 in Pest, where he was curator of the Art Gallery.
