Anterior commissure

The anterior commissure, also called rostral commissure (from Latin rostrum, for beak ), is one of the cross paths ( commissures ), which connects the two temporal lobes together. Furthermore, tick the anterior commissure portions of the olfactory tract. It is located in front of the third ventricle.

The other tracks are cross- corpus callosum, the fornix commissure, posterior commissure (also referred epithalamic commissure ) and commissure habenularis.

The term anterior commissure can also be found in connection with the spinal cord. The full name is alba anterior commissure -denominated portion of the white matter leads axons of nociceptors after switching in the dorsal horn, which cross over to the lateral spinothalamic tract. Furthermore tick here segmental pathways of the anterior corticospinal tract ( direktus ) before switching to α - motoneurons.

The imaginary line connecting the anterior commissure and the posterior commissure found in neuroradiology, inter alia, as a guide use ( under the acronym AC - PC line ).
