Grape-like grass lily ( Anthericum liliago )

The grass lilies ( Anthericum ) are a genus of the subfamily Agavoideae the asparagus plants.

Description

Grass lilies are perennials with short rhizomes and somewhat fleshy roots. The Central European species are hairless. Your stems bear at the base membranous, spreitenlose -leaves and a dark fiber mop. The arranged in a basal rosette leaves are grass like, flat or rinnig and gradually tapered. They have a thin-skinned vagina.

The flowers are borne in terminal racemose or paniculate inflorescences. The six bracts are free, radially, three -to seven- annoying, knows the heyday far upstanding and binding. There are six stamens present, three long and three short, all are shorter than the perianth. It's just a pen available with a short and blunt scar.

The dreifächrige fruit capsule contains two to eight seeds per tray.

Dissemination

The genus includes at further amended the genus approximately 65 species that are distributed mainly in the tropics. With 17 species it has its main distribution in southern Africa. Some species are also found in Mexico and South America.

System

In Germany there are two types:

  • Rispige grass lily or lily grass branchy ( Anthericum ramosum L.)
  • Grape-like grass lily ( Anthericum liliago L.).

In Europe there is a third kind:

  • Anthericum baeticum ( Boiss. ) Boiss.; it occurs in the mountains of southern Spain

Other types are:

  • Anthericum corymbosum Baker, occur in tropical Africa
  • Anthericum jamesii Baker, occur in tropical Africa
