Anthimus (physician)

Anthimus was a Greek physician of the time around 500 AD, and in the wake of Theodoric Strabo and later by Theodoric the Great worked. Previously, he was well recognized for high treason from Constantinople Opel after he tried to elucidate the Goths on the developments in Constantinople Opel letter, but failed, since the letter was intercepted. This is indicated by a note of the historian Malchus out of Philadelphia.

From Anthimus a letter to Theodoric the Great about healthy eating ( de observatione ciborum ) is obtained. Linguistically this letter as a source for the transition from Latin to Italian of great interest.
