Anthony Annan (2011)

Anthony Gildas Kofi Annan ( born July 21, 1986 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian football player and is since January 2011, when FC Schalke 04 under contract. The midfielder is versatile and has its strengths especially on the defensive. Anthony Annan is a nephew of the second degree, Kofi Annan, the former UN Secretary-General.

Career

In the club

Annan played until 2005 at Sekondi Hasaacas and then moved on to league rivals Hearts of Oak SC. In January 2007, he was obliged by the Norwegian first division side Start Kristiansand and completed for the club in his first season eleven missions. At the end of the season the club finished second to last in the standings and dismounted in the Adecco Ligaen. Annan joined for the 2008 season the club Stabæk Fotball to, with whom he immediately became Norwegian champion. He then moved for three seasons for the Norwegian giants Rosenborg Trondheim, the transfer fee for him was around 1.2 million euros. In Rosenborg BK Annan became a performer of the team, had the big part that his club could win the title twice.

In January 2011, Annan joined the Bundesliga FC Schalke 04, in which he signed a contract until the summer of 2014. In Gelsenkirchen Annan to replace the migrated to Spain midfielder Ivan Rakitić.

In August 2011, Annan was awarded for one year to the Dutch first division club Vitesse Arnhem.

In August 2012, Annan was awarded for the 2012/13 season at Osasuna.

In the National Team

Annan represented his country several times at youth level and was also in the Olympic Team Ghana to use. On 20 March 2007 he was first invited as a replacement for the injured Michael Essien in the Ghana national team and made his debut in a friendly against Brazil (final score 0-1) on March 27 in Råsundastadion. For the 2008 African Cup in his own country he was appointed to the 23 -member squad player. He came in the final group match against Morocco to use his first tournament and was then in all three final round games at left-back in use. Ghana finished the tournament in third place. The following African Cup of 2010 in Angola he brought with Ghana Vice titles. In the 2010 World Cup in South Africa Annan graduated all five tournament games in the defensive midfield of his team, mostly on the side of Kevin -Prince Boateng. In the official tournament report Annan of the Technical Study Group ( TSG ) was counted among the four outstanding players of Ghana and praised for his good vision and be safe passing game.
