Anthony Eickhoff

Gerhard Anton (Anthony ) Eickhoff ( born September 11, 1827 in Kaldewei, Benninghausen; † November 5, 1901 in New York City ) was a German - American journalist, editor, author, lawyer, U.S. Congressman from New York City, U.S. Treasury auditor and head of the New York Fire Department.

He was married to Louise Elisa Neuenschwander, who immigrated from Switzerland to the United States. They were the parents of the lawyer Henry Eickhoff (1856-1933) and two daughters, and also the grandparents of the lawyer Henry Eickhoff, Jr. ( 1898-1954 ).
