Anthony Hope

Anthony Hope is the pseudonym of Sir Anthony Hope Hawkins ( born February 9, 1863 in London, † July 8, 1933 ), a British lawyer and writer.

Anthony Hope was a son of Reverend Edward Connerford Hawkins, an Anglican clergyman, and Jane Isabella Grahame. He left Oxford University in 1885 with a first class degree and became a lawyer in London. He married in 1903, had two sons and a daughter. During World War II he worked in the Ministry of Information. In 1918, he was beaten for his services during the war, a knight.

His first book was A Man of Mark (1890), later he wrote The Dolly Dialogues (1894 ). He had the most success with The Prisoner of Zenda (Eng. " The Prisoner of Zenda "). Then he wrote Rupert of Henzau (1898 ) and many other books.
