Anthony Jacobs, Baron Jacobs

David Anthony Jacobs, Baron Jacobs, known as Anthony Jacobs ( born November 13, 1931) is a British businessman, politician, formerly the Liberal Democrats and Life Peer.

Life and career

Jacobs was born in 1931 as son of Ridley and Ella Jacobs and attended Clifton College in Bristol and the University of London.

Jacobs was 1957-1972 Chairman ( Chairman ) of the Nig Securities Group, 1961-1990 and 1992-1994 the Tricoville Group, and from 1973 to 1990 the British School of Motoring. Since 1972 he was a member of the Liberal Party. In 1974 he entered into two general election for the constituency of Watford unsuccessful. 1984 Jacobs was one of several treasurers of his party, a post from which he resigned three years later. In 1988 he became Vice-President ( Vice - President) of the Social and Liberal Democrats, which he remained until 2008. He was in 1988 a member of the Federal Executive. He is also the Crown Estate Paving Commissioner.

In March 2012, he called for tax cuts to stimulate the economy.

Membership in the House of Lords

Jacobs was appointed Life peer as Baron Jacobs, of Belgravia in the City of Westminster on 18 October 1997. His maiden speech in the House of Lords he held on 10 December 1997 on the international art market. When his political interests he gives in taxes and the Chinook crash.

In 1988 he became a Knight Bachelor. He is the recipient of an honorary doctorate from the University of Haifa and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
