Anthony Lester, Baron Lester of Herne Hill

Anthony Paul Lester, Baron Lester of Herne Hill, QC ( born July 3, 1936) is a British Liberal Democrat politician and Member of the House of Lords.

He was raised as Baron Lester of Herne Hill for Life Peer in 1993. He works as a barrister and part of Blackstone Chambers at. He was appointed Honorary Professor at University College Cork in 2005.

On 29 June 2007 Lord Lester was appointed by Prime Minister Gordon Brown as Advisor to the Minister of Justice for constitutional reform. He is a member of the Joint Committee on Human Rights.

Lester is patron of the Family Planning Association of former National Birth Control Committee. He represented the FPA in a case in Northern Ireland to the introduction of a more liberal law on abortion in the country.
