Anthony Michalek

Anthony Michalek ( born January 16, 1878 in Radvanov, Bohemia, † December 21, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even in his birth year was Anthony Michalek with his parents to Chicago, where he later attended the public schools. He then worked as an accountant. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1904 he was in the fifth electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of James McAndrews on March 4, 1905. Since he has not been confirmed in 1906, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1907.

In 1908, Michalek sought unsuccessfully to make his return to the Congress. At that time he was also the director and manager of the musical Conservatory of Chicago. In this city he has also died on 21 December 1916.
