Anthracoceros

A Malay - Hornbill ( Anthracoceros malayanus )

Anthracocerus is a genus of hornbills family ( Bucerotidae ).

The distribution of members of this genus is confined to Africa and parts of Asia. Anthracocerus representatives are usually provided with a helmet or a horn-shaped attachment.

The representatives of the genus Anthracoceros are cavity nesters, with the female and the male from the inside wall up from outside the niche cave entrance immediately after depositing the eggs with clay, earth, and their own feces. Only a small slit is maintained by the female and the young are fed by the male with food. Due to the long time in the cave, the female a short time after leaving the cave is flightless.
