Anti-torpedo bulge

As Torpedowulst refers to an underwater protection of the ship alongside the fuselage -mounted side bulge. Should the ship be hit by a torpedo, a large part of the explosion energy is absorbed and dissipated so before it can reach the internal armor further inside. The resulting cavity was therefore either left empty, with liquids (fuel) or as the HMS Hood filled with steel pipes, so that by deforming the tubes the energy should be included.
