Anticline
An anticline or anticlinorium geological saddle is produced by folding of layered rocks bulge. In the narrow sense, the term limited to elevations, where the initial up / down relationship of the layer sequence is preserved. The general case of the bulge without considering the age sequence is said anti form. An anticline is formed by combining compression of part of the earth's crust by means of laterally effective Drucks. This can overlap large and small wrinkles, so that the rock of a large geologic fold usually appear wavy pronounced.
The anticline to the inverse geometric structure is called syncline. On the leveled by erosion surface, the oldest rocks are at an anticline in the center and are surrounded by younger rocks.
