Antihemorrhagic
A hemostat (Greek αἷμα Haima, blood ' and στάσις stasis, stasis, stilling '), Hämatostatikum, Styptikum, Hämostypikum or Hämatostyptikum is a substance that is applied for hemostasis.

- Coagulation factors ( eg factor VIII in hemophilia A or factor IX in hemophilia B, von Willebrand factor in inherited deficiency)
- Desmopressin (eg aspirin to improve the function of the platelets)
- 4 - (aminomethyl ) benzoic acid enhances the aggregation of platelets by fibrin
- Platelet Concentrates containing platelets, e.g., in severe burns / injury
- Protamine: drug that heparin, a common anticoagulant, neutralized
- Vitamin K1, used for the neutralization of coumarins ( antidote )
The counterpart, ie medications to reduce blood clotting are anticoagulants.
