Antihypotensive agent

As vasopressor substances are referred to, which are used to raise the blood pressure or support. The mechanism of action is mostly in the activation of receptors of the sympathetic nervous system. The consequences are an increased vascular tone, increased cardiac contractility and increased cardiac pumping volume.

A naturally occurring, in the hypothalamus educated vasopressor is the antidiuretic hormone ( ADH, vasopressin ). ( Composed of nine amino acid units) nonapeptide As it can be produced synthetically and used as a blood pressure- enhancing drug.
