Antimony (V ) oxide ( antimony pentaoxide ) is a chemical compound selected from the group of oxides of antimony.

Production and representation

Antimony ( V) oxide is obtained by oxidation of antimony or antimony trioxide, antimony or by calcining nitrate.

Properties

The crystal structure of antimony ( V) oxide is continuous octahedral. It is in the form of a white to yellowish powder before.

Use

Antimony ( V) oxide is used as flame retardants in acrylonitrile -butadiene-styrene and other plastics. Furthermore, it is used as a flocculating agent in the production of titanium dioxide, and sometimes in the production of glass and enamel ( as clouding agents ) colors used (e.g. antimonates as Natriummetaantimonat ) and adhesives.
