Antiochus IX Cyzicenus

Antiochus IX. Eusebes surnamed Cyzicenus was the son of Antiochus VII and Cleopatra Thea Sidetes. After his father's death in Parthia and the return of his uncle Demetrius II Nicator to power (129 BC), his mother sent him for safety's sake after Cyzicus on the Bosphorus, which led to his nickname.

116 BC he returned to Syria to claim the throne of the Seleucid VIII by his half- brother and cousin Antiochus Grypus for himself, with whom he probably finally agreed on a division of Syria. He was a son of Grypus ', Seleucus VI. Epiphanes, 96 BC, killed in battle.
