Antioh Cantemir

Antioh Cantemir was Prince of Moldavia on 8 December 1695 to 14 September 1700 to 12 February 1705 to 20 July 1707. Antioh was the son of Prince Constantin Cantemir and thus uncle of the same writers and Enlightenment ( in the German is often written as " Antioch Kantemir ").

Together with his brother Dimitrie Cantemir he planned the release of Prince Constantin Duca ( this was using the Wallachian prince Constantin Brâncoveanu came to the throne, which Dimitrie was a laggard ). Ultimately Duca was deposed by the Sublime Porte and Antioh received the throne. Unlike his father, he had a friendly attitude poland. Chronicler Ion Neculce Antioh describes as " tall, honest, good-looking man who knew what he wanted and just verdict "; He further writes that he is " not a scholar, but not a stupid man".
