Antioquia Department

The Departamento de Antioquia is a department in north- western Colombia. It is surrounded by the departments de Córdoba, Sucre, Bolívar, Santander, Boyacá, Caldas, Risaralda and Choco (starting clockwise from the north). In the far north of Antioquia borders with the Atlantic Ocean.

Antioquia is rich in mineral resources. Mainly gold and silver will be mined, but also oil, coal, iron, and lead. In agriculture, coffee and bananas are grown. The industrial heart of Medellín, among other forms of food processing, electrical and textile industry.

In addition to the metropolis of Medellin National Park Las Orquídeas is one of the main attractions.
