Antissa ( Ἄντισσα ) was an ancient city on the northwest coast of the Greek island of Lesbos.

The place was inhabited since prehistoric times. According to Greek mythology, the separated, but still singing head of Orpheus drove across the sea to Lesbos. In a cave near Antissa the prophetic head was then held.

In the 7th century BC, the musician and poet was born in Terpander Antissa, which further developed the Greek music crucial.

167 BC the city was destroyed by the Romans and their inhabitants resettled after Methymna. The modern city Andissa located further inland.
