Antoine Bussy

Antoine Alexandre Brutus Bussy (* May 29, 1794 in Marseille, † February 1, 1882 in Paris) was a French chemist and pharmacist.

Life and work

After studying chemistry at the École de pharmacy he received his Ph.D. in 1823 in chemistry and later in medicine. He then taught until 1874 at the École de Pharmacie in Paris. In 1828 he isolated the first time, regardless of Friedrich Wohler, the element beryllium. In organic chemistry, the designation of the acetone comes from him.
