Antoine de Paule

Fra ' Antoine de Paule (* 1551/52 in France, † June 9, 1636 ) was dated 10 March 1623 to his death in 1636, the 56th Grand Master of the Order of Malta. Until the election de Paule was the Grand Prior of St. Gilles tongue of Provence.

Because of the overpopulation of Valletta he founded at a distance of about 5 km a village and gave it its name, the modern city of Paola. There he built the parish church of St. Ubaldesca, named after a sister of the Order.

He called 1626 the historian Fra ' Gio Francesco Abela Vice Chancellor of the Order.
