Antoine Godeau

Antoine Godeau (* September 24 1605 in Dreux, † April 21, 1672 in Vence ) was a French poet and writer.

Godeau was a cousin of Valentin Conrart and a member of its learned society. Godeau was also one of the permanent guests of the Hotel de Rambouillet. 1634 he was appointed a member of the Académie française, and in 1636 appointed him Cardinal Richelieu for a paraphrase of the " Benedicite " Bishop of Grasse.
