Antoine Roney

Antoine Roney ( born April 1, 1963 in Philadelphia ) is an American saxophonist and bass clarinetist of modern jazz.

Roney comes from a musical family. His grandfather Roosevelt Sherman played with Frankie Fairfax; the trumpeter Wallace Roney is his older brother. His father taught him to five years in drumming; as a teenager, he moved to the clarinet and the alto to tenor saxophone. After training at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, he studied at the Hart College with Jackie McLean and occasionally played with Clifford Jordan and Donald Byrd. In 1991 he became a member of his brother's band, with whom he went on an international tour; also he was involved in many of the shots. He also founded his own group. In 2001 he toured with Al Foster through Europe. He also participated in recordings of Jesse Davis, Cody Moffett, Cindy Blackman, Ricky Ford, Sarah Morrow and Michael Carvin. Next, he worked with Ted Curson, John Patton, Ravi Coltrane, Geri Allen, Chick Corea and Elvin Jones.
