Antoine Walker

Antoine Devon Walker ( born August 12, 1976 in Chicago, Illinois ) is a retired American professional basketball player.

Career

The 2.06 m wide Walker visited during his youth the Mount Carmel High School. Later he moved to the University of Kentucky, where he was under the well-known high school coach Rick Pitino champion in the NCAA Men 's Division 1 Basketball Championship in 1996. He was named MVP and was drafted sixth by the Boston Celtics in the same year at the annual NBA Draft. For his performance in the first year as a professional player, he was appointed to the NBA All- Rookie First Team. With the Celtics, he was active until 2003 and reached in the 2001/ 02 season, the final of the Eastern Conference, where you was defeated with 2:4 against the New Jersey Nets.

Shortly before the start of the season 2003/04er he was transferred to the Dallas Mavericks with the German Dirk Nowitzki. Here he could not prevail due to strong competition and, after just one year, along with Tony Delk on to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Jason Terry and Alan Henderson. But again, it did not keep him long and so he returned during the 2004/ 05 season to the Celtics. In August of the same year was a part of the largest transfers in the NBA history: Walker and 12 other players were traded from five different clubs. He was thereby transferred to the Miami Heat, with whom he could be 2006 NBA champions.

On 24 October 2007 Walker was sent along with Michael Doleac, Wayne Simien, a first-round draft pick and cash to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who received in return, Ricky Davis and Mark Blount. With the Minnesota Timberwolves Walker missed the playoffs. Previously, he had always reached the playoffs during 6 years.

On June 26, 2008 Walker was traded again, in the package with his teammate Marko Jaric, Greg Buckner and the selected third in the draft OJ Mayo, he moved to Tennessee to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Timberwolves in return received Mike Miller, Jason Collins, Brian Cardinal and the rights to Kevin Love.

After spending the 2009/2010 season in Puerto Rico, where he played for the Guaynabo Coquistadores, he tried for the season 2010/2011 a return to the NBA. He completed a trial at the Charlotte Bobcats, but did not receive a contract for the season. He then joined the Idaho Stampede in the NBA Development League. On 9 December 2010 he was at a 83 to 80 win over the Dakota Wizards his debut for the Stampede and contributed 13 points to the victory. He played two years for the Stampede and gave in April 2012 after the last season game, the end of his active career known.

Antoine Walker was a total of three times in the squad for the NBA All- Star Game (1998, 2002, 2003 ) and was called each time in the starting five.
