Anton Funtek

Anton Funtek ( born October 30, 1862 in Ljubljana, † October 21, 1932 ) was a Slovene writer.

After attending the College of Education his hometown Funtek worked as a teacher in Littai and Sankt Veit in parakeet. From 1889 to 1894 he was a technical teacher at the vocational school and professor at the College of Education in Ljubljana. He also served as editor of the Ljubljanski Zvon, the Ljubljana newspaper and the Official Journal.

In addition to poetry Funtek published plays and translated, among others Shakespeare's King Lear, Goethe's Faust and Schiller's Song of the Bell into Slovenian. His piece Teharski plemici was set to music by Benjamin Ipavec.
