Anton Janda

Anton Janda ( born May 1, No 1904; † 1986) was an Austrian football player at the position of a defender.

As an international, he played, among others, a match for the legendary Dream Team and was convened by Hugo Meisl also in the squad for the World Cup 1934. Although the Austrian national team reached the semi-finals, Janda itself but came to no use. With his original club Admira he could reach the Mitropacupfinale 1934 along with four league titles won.

Career

Anton Janda began his career at SC North Vienna in 1912, where he was already with 15 years as a left winger in the team competition. In 1922 he moved to the Admiralty, where he debuted in the spring of 1924 as a striker in the league and from the following season had a regular place in the defense. He celebrated at the Black - White by winning the championship in 1927 The first big success. A season later succeeded the defenders of winning the double and jump into the Austrian national team. He made his debut on April 1, 1928 against Czechoslovakia. For the year 1929, Janda was able to work out a fixed place in the national team, but was used only sporadically in the following years. Including the match coincided with the Dream Team in 1932 against Czechoslovakia.

The Admira Anton Janda but was then recorded one of his greatest successes. With the champion team of the Admiralty from 1934 succeeded in moving into the Mitropacupfinale, the forerunner of the European Cup. After a home win 3-2 over the AGC Bologna, in Italy, however, they lost with 1:5. A year later the defender ended his career in Jedlesee and was after that for the SC Austro Fiat Vienna active. This was followed in the postwar years more stations at FC Zell am See, SV Austria Salzburg, Austria Heiligenstädter SV and XIII.

After his death in 1986 was named in his honor in 1993 a street in Floridsdorf Janda Street.
