Anton Joseph Leeb

Anton Josef Edler von Leeb ( born June 13, 1769 in Mikulov, † December 6, 1837 in Vienna) was an official and mayor of Vienna.

Life

Leeb came early to Vienna, where he entered the service concept of the city of Vienna as a magistrate secretary 1793. In the time of the French crews of Vienna by Napoleon's troops, he acquired merit, so as Magistrate in 1799, as a member of the princely military and civilian commission as colonel and sergeant. He particularly strove for the expansion of the civil military. Leeb was knighted in 1810.

The appointment as mayor Leeb reached by a series of coincidences. In September 1834 Mayor Anton Lumpert was induced to resign. The actually intended as a successor Ignaz Czapka had been a protégée of Emperor Francis I, who died, however. Thus Czapka had I. under the new Emperor Ferdinand no chance of an order. Thus, the choice now fell on Anton Josef Leeb by the highest decision of 31 March 1835 government decree on April 7, 1835.

In the short term Leebs the Emperor Ferdinand aqueduct was begun with the construction.

After his death he was initially buried in the Währinger local cemetery, but in 1886 transferred to the Central Cemetery in Vienna. He got there a grave of honor in group 0 number 1 1894 Leebgasse in Vienna-Favoriten was named after him.
