Anton Pfeffer

Anton Pfeffer ( born August 17, 1965 in Lilienfeld ), nicknamed Rambo, is a former Austrian football player.

Football career

Pepper's youth club was a SV Türnitz based in Türnitz in the district of Lilienfeld. In 1985, he joined as a 20 year old to Vienna Austria. Pepper was a die-hard defender, so he was nicknamed Rambo by Herbert Prohaska. The defender was also long time captain of Austria Vienna. Pepper took part in Italy and in France in 1998 at the World Championships in 1990. He played in two World Championships five times and got two yellow cards. His famous back-pass in the match against the Czechoslovak Federal Republic (WM 1990) and the resulting defeat was the opinion of many fans, the main reason for the Vorrundenaus of Austria at this World Cup. 1999 Pepper was also at 0:9 debacle of the Austrian national football team against Spain here. During the break ( where there is already 5-0 for Spain was ) he said during an interview with the ORF to the question " .... what is still possible in the second half? ": " High who mas nimma gwinnen " (Standard German: " win high we are no longer "). He ended his career in the summer of 2000 after 396 league games for the Austria Vienna.

Coaching career

Pepper was dated 12 August 2001 to 21 December 2001 Walter Hörmann together coach of Austria Vienna, before he was released.

Others

In 2001, he ran unsuccessfully for the People's Party for a seat in the ORF Audience. Since 2005 he is a Board at the Austrian first division SKN St. Pölten and advises the board there in sporting matters. His main job is working in the sports department of the Lower Austrian state government. In 2000, he received the Silver Medal of the Province of Lower Austria for his sporting achievements.

Pepper is a passionate singer, he recorded a CD with Austrian folk songs ( Toni Pepper & Friends folk songs from Austria, published in 2003 ) and two hit CDs ( pepper and salt, pepper published in 1997 and published in 1999 ) on.
