Anton Pilgram

Anton Pilgram (* 1460 in Brno, † 1515 ) was a Moravian -Austrian architect and sculptor.

After his training he carried out work in the Swabian region, for example, at the Church of St. Kilian in Heilbronn and the St. George's Church in Schwieberdingen. In the Lorenz Chapel in Rottweil represents the awakening Männle probably an early self-portrait of Pilgram dar.

In the years 1510-1511 he worked at the building works of the late Gothic church St. Jakob in Brno.

From 1511 to 1515 Pilgram took over the Fabric of St. Stephen's in Vienna. Often the Domkanzel Pilgram was attributed, especially emblazoned his stone marks on it - in the execution so he was probably involved. Nowadays, the design will be more likely attributed to the workshop of Niclas Gerhaert van Leyden, especially the plastic portrait on the pulpit ( for the audience ) to that Pilgram below the organ foot is very dissimilar.

However, he managed to push through the very modern design of the organ loft the previous cathedral architect Jörg Öchsl from office and to be his successor. The gatehouse at the Vienna nave was built in a similar time as the Orgelfuß in St. Stephen's Cathedral. In many cases this work Anton Pilgram is also attributed. Comparable are the Schlingrippenformen the ribs with the parish church Weistrach and also the proximity of Benedikt Ried has been recognized repeatedly, with the stylistic similarities are not left completely clarified.

Even in his hometown of Brno several works are protected, including the curious site of the Old Town Hall with the twisted spire.
